  1. Presented in writing on a change of address form.
  2. Changed online through My ASU.

what is the difference between Commencement and Convocation?

University Commencement represents the culmination of a student’s academic achievement. It is a time of celebration and reflection for students, families, friends, faculty and staff. It brings together a diverse community to share in the joy of accomplished goals.  Graduates from all of ASU's campuses are invited to participate in the commencement ceremony.  University commencement is the university-wide celebration at which degrees are conferred upon graduating students by the president of Arizona State University.  Please visit https://graduation.asu.edu/ for information about all ASU Ceremonies.

College and cultural convocations are a time for smaller groups to gather and celebrate students’ graduation. The smaller setting provides the opportunity for individual recognition. Convocation events are where your name is called and you will cross the stage to receive congratulations. For more information about a particular convocation, please contact the dean's office of the college, or contact the University Ceremonies Office for information about special interest convocations.

can I walk at this ceremony?

The spring 2017 convocation ceremony is intended for students that will have completed all coursework during the spring 2017 OR summer 2017 semester.  We strongly discourage students that wish to walk when their academic records are in question or when they have remaining coursework to finish during the following fall semester.  Graduation is a very emotional experience and can leave students with pending coursework feeling less invested and motivated as they finish coursework post-ceremony.
Summer graduates that want to walk during spring ceremonies should 'register to graduate' through myasu.edu as a summer graduate.  After that step is completed, they can RSVP for spring ceremonies before previously stated deadlines.
The special events office does not have access to student records and grade information.  In order to confirm your academic eligibility to walk at ceremonies, visit with your academic advisor.
Please note that masters and PhD graduates are NOT allowed to participate at Graduate Commencement if their coursework is not completed.
