As Public Service students, participating in an internship is the best way to gain practical experience within your chosen field. Each school has their own requirements and resources for their students to complete an internship.

All students in the School of Community Resources & Development are required to complete a Senior Internship. The Senior Internship allows students to put theory to practice working in a professional agency under the supervision of an Agency Internship Supervisor and an Academic Internship Supervisor.
The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice partners with community businesses and criminal justice organizations to provide undergraduate and graduate internships. Students can earn college credit, gain professional work experience and network with professionals in their field. Internships are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters.
By applying knowledge gained in the classroom to real world situations, students are able to gain a better understanding of the program content and prepare to enter their chosen career with valuable professional training and experience. Internships can be found in a broad range of fields of study and types of organizations, public and private.
Field Education is offered concurrently with academic study. Students are assigned to a social service agency and complete an internship placement under the guidance and supervision of an experienced professional social worker called a Field Instructor. This vital interaction is designed to reinforce our students’ academic study with real life experience.
